Board of Trustees Meetings

Board Meetings will be held in the TUSD Professional Development Center (PDC), 1100 Cahill Avenue; however, please check the location posted on individual agendas as the location may change.  The following dates are for the months of January 2015 through June 2015.   The Unified Board will meet on the first and third Tuesday of each month.  Meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the TUSD Professional Development Center (PDC), (unless otherwise posted on the agenda). Student Expulsions will always be held on the first Board Meeting of the month.

Reuniones de la Mesa Directiva se celebrarán en el Centro de Desarrollo Profesional de TUSD (PDC), 1100 Cahill Avenue; sin embargo, favor de mirar el sitio publicado en las agendas individuales como la ubicación puede cambiar. Las siguientes fechas son para los meses de enero - junio de 2015.  La Mesa Directiva se reunirá el primer y tercer martes de cada mes.  Las reuniones comenzarán a las 6:30 pm en el Centro de Desarrollo Profesional de TUSD (PDC), (a menos que se indique lo contrario en la agenda).  Expulsiones Estudiantiles siempre se llevarán a cabo en la primera reunión del mes, de la Mesa Directiva.

Frank Lima, Board President (Resides in Area 5)

Frank Lima was born and raised in Turlock as a child of immigrant parents. He is married and a father of three children.  Each of his three children attends a different school in our district.  Frank has practiced law in Turlock for twenty years.  As a product of Turlock public schools, he feels personally indebted to our public education system, having obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree with honors in applied economics from U.C. Davis and a Juris Doctor degree from U.C.L.A.  Frank worked and paid his way through college.  He studied in foreign countries.  Frank also realized the good fortune and privileges we have with our public schools.  No matter how good or bad we judge our public schools, we have the opportunity and obligation to make our schools better.  We must hold ourselves and our schools to the highest of standards.  We cannot make excuses for our failures, and although we should enjoy and recognize our successes, we must always strive to make our schools better.

Dr. Harinder Grewal, Board Clerk (Resides in Area 1)

Harinder Grewal has a Masters Degree, Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics and an MBA. He is a Senior Agricultural Weights & Measures Inspector with the Stanislaus County Department of Agriculture. Harinder is serving a second term as a Councilman on the Municipal Advisory Council, Keyes, CA. He served his term as Director with the Community Service District, Keyes, CA. He served as a Chairman on the Modesto City Equal Opportunity Commission. Harinder served as a Treasurer of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees- Local 10. Also, he served as a Job Steward for many years. He was a two-term President of the California Association of Standards and Agricultural Professionals. 

As a School Board Trustee, he will bring to the Turlock Unified School District Board a broad perspective with 20 years of leadership experience with various organizations, an ability to be objective and fair, and an appreciation of the diverse needs of our community.

Harinder has a daughter and son. His daughter, Love, is a student at CSU Stanislaus and son, Arjun, is a senior in high school. His wife, Baljeet, has been a nursing assistant for 21 years.

Eileen Hamilton (Resides in Area 4)

Eileen Hamilton attended CSU, Stanislaus and completed a Bachelor of Arts degree with an area of specialization in child development. She is a California credentialed teacher having taught for many years at the Turlock Unified School District. Eileen was awarded the Turlock Rotary Club 2002 Outstanding Teacher Award for Excellence in Teaching. Eileen's children attended TUSD schools and graduated from CSU, Stanislaus before going on to graduate schools. The family has lived in Turlock for many years and enjoys the Central Valley lifestyle and their almond ranch. Eileen was a member of the Turlock Teachers Association, the CTA, the NEA, and is a lifetime member of PTA. Eileen has served on the board of the Turlock Family Network and Creative Alternatives. She also volunteers with the Turlock Community Theatre, Emanuel Medical Plaza, and Hospice of Emanuel. As a school board trustee, she brings a fresh perspective, energy, a "can do" approach to problem solving, and works to assure that our school system is preparing children to achieve their goals.

Eileen has two daughters, Dr. Laurissa Hamilton, an adjunct professor at CSU, Stanislaus and Elise Domico, a counselor at Denair Elementary/Junior High School. Eileen's husband, Hobart, taught chemistry at CSU, Stanislaus for 33 years. 



Barney W. Gordon (Resides in Area 1)

Barney Gordon is a native Californian and is happy to call Turlock home.

Returning to California after spending over 10 years in the U. S. Navy, he and his family found Turlock to be a fabulous community with great educational opportunities.  Barney has always been a proponent of education as an equalizer and a solution to many issues facing our community and our nation.  As an instructor at the Navy's premier nuclear training facility in Charleston, S.C., he experienced firsthand how people from all walks of life could succeed after being given the opportunity.  Continuing in education, he worked for Modesto City Schools as a Technology Manager and taught computer maintenance at Modesto Junior College. He currently works at CSU Stanislaus as the Client Services Director for the Office of Information Technology.

Barney is married and has two daughters. His children have attended several schools within Turlock Unified School District and he and his wife are very active volunteers in the District and the community. Barney has served as the founding president of Turlock Education Foundation, the founding president of Walnut PTA, the president of Turlock Council PTA, the chairman of the TUSD Budget Advisory Committee, the chairman of the Turlock Parks, Recreation and Services Commission, and other community boards and committees.

Deborah Martin (Elected and resides in Area 2)

Deborah Martin is a graduate of Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.  Upon graduation she moved to California to be a regional engineer for Pacific Gas and Electric Company.  After 12 years with PG&E she moved to Spokane, Washington to be the Director of Engineering for Avista Utility Company.  She recently retired from Avista as the Director of Operations for their Oregon Region.

Deborah and her family moved to Turlock in 2010 when her husband, Chris Borovansky, was offered the CEO position for Stanislaus County Fairgrounds.  Two of their children, Albie and AJ, are third graders in Turlock and their daughter DeLayne is a recent graduate of University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  They are all very happy to call Turlock home. 

Deborah brings 30 years of business leadership experience and 23 years of parenting experience.  She has always been an active community volunteer with non profit boards and organizations, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, the University President's Advisory Board, PTA, Site Council, Girl Scouts, youth sports, Junior Achievement, SMART Reading Program and more.  Deborah is honored to serve the students, teachers, parents and staff of Turlock Unified School District as a trustee.  Her hope is to support each and every student to exceed even their own expectations!


Jennifer Carter (Elected and resides in Area 6)

Jennifer Carter has lived in Turlock for over 30 years.  She is a graduate of Turlock High School and obtained her Bachelors Degree from CSU Stanislaus.  Jennifer's husband, Brian, is a Registered Nurse for a local company.  Their two daughters, Taylor and Morgan, have attended their entire K-12 education at TUSD schools.

Jennifer brings 20+ years of management experience to the Board.  She is currently the Director of Administrative Services for Merced Irrigation District, responsible for Human Resources, employee relations, contract negotiations, risk management, and information technology.  Jennifer has been actively involved in youth programs and has served as the Secretary for the Pitman Band Boosters, Central Valley Aquatics board member, PTA member, Girl Scout Troop Leader, and youth athletic coach.

Jennifer believes that we need to continually strive to better our schools, movtivate our students, have the best staff and provide more options for our children to ensure they have viable college and career paths post graduation.

Bob Weaver (Elected and resides in Area 4)

Bob Weaver is a 4th generation Turlock resident.  His wife, Donna, is a teacher with Great Valley Academy in Modesto.  They have 3 sons, Blake, Ryan and Christian and all are currently attending schools at TUSD.  Bob is a graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.  He is a member of the PTA, a Scout leader, and youth sports coach.  Bob is a Fieldman for an agricultural supply company and and member of CAPCA (California Assoc. of Pest Control Advisors).
